Organic SEO Audit: Organic Traffic & On-Page SEO

In our comprehensive 15-step SEO audit, there are two important things to check. These are: 1.) Checking organic traffic and 2.) Improving on-page SEO.

It is very important for to understand the performance of their website in the search results and optimize its key pages to achieve optimal SEO.


Check Your Organic Traffic

You need to monitor your organic traffic so that you can tell whether your SEO efforts are giving you the results you desire.

Here’s how you can do that using Google Analytics:

  1. Access Google Analytics

    1. Go to Google Analytics and log into your account.

    2. Then click on Acquisition>>All Traffic>>Channels.

    3. Click on Organic Search which shows you how many people visited your site through the search engines within a particular period of time.

  2. Analyse Your Data

    1. Set the date range for the last 6-8 months. This extended duration will allow you to see if there has been any increase, decrease or no change in your organic traffic over time.

    2. Look out for patterns and trends. Are there any increases or decreases in traffic linked with specific events or changes made on your website?

Keep a close watch on your organic traffic to get an idea of the direction your SEO strategy should take and monitor its progress over time. This knowledge is vital while you might be still improving your website.


Improve Your On-Page SEO

On-page SEO is one of the basic factors for higher search ranking, but optimizing every page on your site can be too much to handle. However, this does not mean that you have to be stuck in trivialities; instead, you can choose some pages to prioritize and make them more impactful.


Identify Your Top Pages:

Consider five of the pages that matter most. For instance, those could be pages which used to receive more traffic than they currently do, or ones that already rank well but could potentially rank better.


Optimize These Pages:

  • Keyword in Title Tag: Important that keywords feature in title tag of the page.

  • Keyword in First 100 Words: Add the main keyword into the first paragraph (first 100 words) so as to signal its relevance with the search engines.

  • Add External Links: Ensure that at least five external hyperlinks are made to reputable sources which help establish credibility of your content.

  • Add Internal Links:  Insert at least 5 internal links which point at other relevant pages within your website. It enhances the site navigation and increases visitors’ engagement time.

  • Use LSI Keywords: Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) keywords are related terms that help search engines understand the context of your content. Sprinkle these throughout your page to improve relevance.


In summary:

Your main pages’ SEO could be greatly improved by implementing such strategies without completely redoing your website.

Prioritizing your efforts is key to maximizing return on time and resources invested.
